| Mary Jo Sarro, M.Ed. is the Founder and President of Threan Communications, LLC, a communications company that highlights important issues concerning education, health, nutrition, food, environment, disability, consumer advocacy and public service. She has empowered people to make positive life choices and to find their voice.
Mary Jo is the Co-Author of "Food Renaissance: Our New World of Food" by Mary Jo and Chris Sarro and is the Co-Founder of FoodRenaissance.org about Enjoying Food for Better Health. She is known as "Mamma Sarro" and trained to run in the 2012 ING NYC Marathon for MSKCC. Mary Jo's training adventure was "Mamma Sarro's Marathon of Hope."
The couple are the creators of Sarro's Synergy of Food, a breakthrough delicious and nutritious approach to food for better energy, responsible weight loss and a personal renaissance in life, which can be achieved from ordinary food from local markets and supermakets. The Sarros are also known as "The Shrinking Sarros" and "The Supermarket Sarros." Their mission is to share their techniques to empower others to create and maintain an independent healthy lifestyle. They encourage people to improve their health and fitness in the Renaissance Run for Better Health and Life.
Mary Jo is a motivational speaker and health advocate, who helps businesses and organizations create a healthy work environment to assist and inspire employers and employees to take responsibilty to improve the quality of life at the workplace, reduce health care costs and inspire a Renaissance for Better Health.
As a publisher, Mary Jo worked alongside the Bodykids Reporters, who conducted one-on-one interviews with President Bill Clinton, Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump, Joe Torre, Mariano Rivera, Ashanti, Sergio Garcia and other political leaders, business leaders, athletes, musicians and public figures. As a media consultant, she works with organizations, colleges, companies and governmental institutions to utilize the new and traditional media to effectively communicate with the public.
She is author of COLLEGE P.R.O. (Planner/Resource/Organizer) “Simplifying the College Application and Selection Process." A Step-by-Step Guide for High School Students. Book signings and seminars held at Barnes & Noble. Mary Jo has been a contributing columnist with print and on-line publications, including Bodykids News, Yonkers Tribune, Yonkers Progress and the Westchester Times Tribune and has been a live radio talk show host. Her advice columns include “ASK MARY JO" and “COLLEGE BOUND.”With a Masters Degree in Education and more than 28 years experience as a social entrepreneur, Mary Jo has drawn upon her educational, business and personal experience to have a positive impact in the community.
